Overview
Pinealon is a synthetic tripeptide (Glu-Asp-Arg, EDR) from the Khavinson short-peptide series. The EDR sequence was characterized from Cortexin, a polypeptide preparation derived from bovine cerebral cortex.
EDR is reported in the peer-reviewed literature to bind DNA at promoter-region motifs of several genes and to modulate MAPK/ERK signalling in cultured cells. These interactions are described from in-vitro and modeling studies. Its full sequence is Glu-Asp-Arg (EDR).
