Overview
IGF-1 LR3 (Long R3 IGF-I) is an engineered insulin-like growth factor-I analog designed to reduce binding to IGF-binding proteins while retaining activity at the IGF-1 receptor. That lower IGFBP affinity makes it useful when researchers want a more freely bioavailable IGF signal than native IGF-1 in cell-growth and differentiation models.

WHAT THIS FORMULA FEATURES
The defining feature is reduced sequestration by IGF-binding proteins. In cultured fibroblasts and chondrocytes, Long R3 IGF-I has shown greater apparent potency than native IGF-I under conditions where endogenous IGFBPs limit activity. This makes it a useful comparator for separating receptor-driven IGF signaling from extracellular binding-protein regulation.
EXPECTED RESEARCH READOUTS
Typical research endpoints include IGF1R phosphorylation, PI3K-AKT and MAPK signaling, DNA synthesis, cell proliferation, protein synthesis, glucose uptake, and comparisons with native IGF-I in the presence or absence of IGFBPs. Effects are strongly cell-type and model dependent.
Research endpoints described above reflect published or model-based scientific observations and are not guaranteed outcomes. This product is strictly for research purposes only. Not approved for human or animal use.
